Is there a difference between waxing and sugaring?
YES!! A big difference! Body sugaring products do not adhere to live skin cells, which is one of the major differences between sugaring and waxing. Wax products are made of resins which adhere to all skin cells and sticks to any surface it is applied to. Body sugaring products never adhere to live skin cells on your body or face. Therefore, when it is removed, it only gently exfoliates dead skin cells, leaving behind silky smooth skin.
Wax is removed against the natural direction of growth causing undue levels of discomfort. With our sugaring method, hair is removed in the natural direction of growth. The sugar paste seeps into the hair follicle which helps lubricate the hair root and allows the hairs to be removed more successfully and much shorter than is possible with waxing. Sugaring also minimizes hair breakage and in grown hairs.
Professional sugar paste is applied at body temperature so there is no risk of burning the skin. It is natural, eco friendly, 100% bacteria free and water soluble, which makes it easily rinse off if needed.

How is Pure Aqua Day Spa's sugaring different to other sugaring methods?
Most other sugaring systems use a paste with a similar technique as strip waxing, which means hair is still removed against the natural direction of growth. Here at Pure Aqua Day Spa we use a wide range of different sugar pastes to suit different clients and our Therapists have undergone a unique and extensive training program. The method we use ensures hair is removed in the natural direction of growth and avoids follicles becoming distorted.
Your Appointment:
Your Advanced Body Sugaring Therapist will be able to schedule your appointment because they will become familiar with your hair growth pattern.
If you are planning to use Body Sugaring to soften or reduce hair, it is important that your first 3-6 Sugaring sessions be booked fairly close together. These are your most important bookings as they will more quickly reduce the amount of overall hair and soften coarse, stubborn hair. For best results, begin booking your treatments 6 to 9 months prior to the date that you would like to see optimal results, eg. a vacation, wedding date, the summer season etc.
Preparing your skin:
We ask that you arrive to your appointment with clean skin without lotions, deoderants or oils. Please do not use a razor, tweezers or depilatory creams between appointments, as this will interfere with your goal to refine and diminish your hair growth and to have smooth healthy skin. Following the recommended full skin conditioning programs between your sugaring treatments is just as important as receiving a treatment. You will receive the best results if your skin is well conditioned and healthy.

It is very important to inform us if:
You are on any medication, if your skin is sunburned, if you have had any facial surgery or if you have undergone chemotherapy in the 6 months leading up to your hair removal treatment.
Please consult with one of our Advanced Sugar Therapists on a suitable time frame to commence your Body Sugaring if any of these contra-indications apply to you.
